FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Again thank you to the 232 people who have decided to join us on Tuesday 25th April. We really appreciate your support for this very new idea – supporting well known charities whilst enjoying the Marlow food scene.

You should already have received an email with our final “instructions” – if not can you and your group members please check your “junk mail” boxes. If any participant has not received an email confirming menu choices can they please email info@marlowtastes.menu

If you or your group members want to check the generic instructions you can also use the following link.

WHEN IS IT?

Your Marlow Tastes adventure takes place on Tuesday 25th April 2023. At 6.15pm you and your friends will check in at the Shelley Theatre (Court Gardens) where you will meet fellow guests for a welcome drink and receive your instructions for the evening

HOW WILL IT ALL WORK?

Your gastronomic journey around three of Marlow’s participating restaurants starts at 7pm when your venue will be revealed and you will be guided along the High Street to your first restaurant. You will have already chosen your menu for the evening, so your starter will be waiting for you shortly after you arrive.

At 8pm your next venue will be revealed. A short stroll with your guide and fellow diners takes you to your second restaurant where your main course awaits.

Your walk to your final restaurant begins at 9.30pm where you will enjoy desert and coffee.

All restaurants are close to Marlow High Street. 15 minutes is scheduled between each course to comfortably walk to your next restaurant with Marlow Tastes guides accompanying you and your fellow diners.

On arrival at each restaurant, your Rotary hosts will welcome you and reconfirm your pre booked menu choices. This ensures that dietary requirements have been catered for.

HOW MANY PLACES ARE AVAILABLE?

This year our participating restaurants have the capacity to serve around 200 guests. Next year we are confident that more restaurant will join us enabling even more guests to join us.

WHICH RESTAURANTS WILL I VISIT?

Our participating restaurants can be seen on the Restaurant Page. But you will not know which ones you will be visiting until shortly before your time of arrival. It will be a surprise!!!

CAN I CHOOSE WHICH RESTAURANTS I GO TO?

The surprise element of finding which restaurant you and your fellow diners will be visiting next is all a part of the fun!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

The cost of your reception drink and three-course meal, inclusive of coffee is just £60 per person. (You will need to pay each restaurant directly for other drinks and any other extras).

As Marlow Tastes is a charity event we expect to donate ALL surplus proceeds to the ONE CAN TRUST and to the TURKISH/SYRIAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

You can of course add further donations, and we will publish the final amounts distributed shortly after the event has taken place.

WHAT FOOD CHOICES WILL I HAVE?

When you book for you and your group, we will ask you to tell us your group’s dietary requirements. We will then try – but cannot guarantee – to match you with best suited menus.  Most restaurants will offer a vegetarian option for their first and main courses.

Soon after the Final Booking Date we will send you three menu options for each of your three courses. Each option will have more allergen detail, so you can make choices that best meet your particular dietary needs.

WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND?

We hope you won’t! And of course, this is a charitable event where ALL surplus proceeds go to support good causes. You will realise that an event like Marlow Tastes requires a lot of planning – that is why our Final Booking Date is three weeks before the big day.

After booking, but before the Final Booking Date, if any one of your group is unable to attend Marlow Tastes, please let us know as soon as possible. We may be able to transfer your ticket(s) if you can offer a replacement customer. If we cannot resell your ticket(s) we will refund 90% of the ticket cost so that we can cover booking transaction fees. Unfortunately, because we are having to commit final numbers to our participating restaurants, we cannot refund after the Final Booking Date.

If for any reason we cannot fulfil the event we will refund your booking in full.

Please read our Terms & Conditions before booking.

HOW MUCH OF MY PAYMENT WILL GO TO CHARITY?

All the surplus proceeds from Marlow Tastes will go to charitable causes, and we will publish the amounts raised.

You will also have the opportunity to make voluntary charitable donations when you book your tickets.

Donations can also be made any time after booking, even during the evening. If you are a UK tax payer, we would also welcome your confirmation of this so we can claim Gift Aid from the taxman!

This year we will support two causes – and will share the surplus proceeds from Marlow Tastes.

ONE CAN TRUST is a well known local foodbank, so it is very appropriate that our dining event helps those less able to feed themselves.

The human devastation caused by the earthquakes in TURKEY AND SYRIA especially needs our help. We aim to help support the provision of shelter and other essential supplies to those areas most affected.

HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU TO ASK FOR ANY FURTHER DETAIL?

Just email us at info@marlowtastes.menu

One of our friendly fellow Rotarians will get back to you quickly. Leave a telephone number if you prefer to have a chat.

HOW SAFE IS MARLOW TASTES?

Very safe we hope! But as with all public events that Marlow Thames Rotary Club organises, we ask you to think about your safety.

Marlow Tastes takes place in a reception venue, in participating restaurants, and outdoors in the streets of Marlow. We ask you to consider:

  • In selecting your menu choices, have you checked for possible allergens?
  • Are you comfortable meeting fellow diners in close proximity, especially indoor at the reception venue and at each restaurant you visit?
  • Are you able to safely walk for around 15 minutes between venues, possibly in inclement weather, and safely cross the road?

HOW WILL I KNOW THAT MY MONEY IS BEING PROPERLY LOOKED AFTER?

At Marlow Thames Rotary Club we are well used to managing complex charitable events. For example, we organise the annual Marlow Santa’s Fun Run which in 2022 generated around £75,000 for mainly local charitable causes.

All Marlow Tastes income and expenditure is managed through our Charity Bank Account which is regulated by the Charity Commission under Charity Account Number 1073652. Our Club Account Return is completed annually, and is lodged with the Charity Commissioner for public review.

Our club members manage the event – and of course no club member receives any income from this – or any other event – that we organise.

HOW DO I BOOK?

First, get a group of friends or family to make up your dining group of either 2, 4 or 6. Unfortunately we can only guarantee that groups of up to six people will be seated together and eat at the same set of restaurants during the event. However, if you notify us of another group that you wish to be associated with, we will do our best to accommodate your wish for both groups to eat at the same restaurants.

For each one of your group you will need their name, email address and phone number as well as any allergies or food restrictions they may have.

Book here to complete your group’s entry and acknowledge that you have agreed to our Terms and Conditions. Finally follow the booking form through to the payment page where payment can be made is the usual online way. Once payment has been received we will automatically acknowledge receipt.

The Final Booking Date is April 4th so you will need to book before then to secure your places. But better to book early as numbers are limited by the capacity of our participating restaurants, so we may well “sell out” before then.

Soon after the Final Booking Date – but without revealing the restaurants your will visit – we will forward three menu options for each of your three courses. Each option will clearly indicate allergens, so make sure you consider this before making and confirming your choices at the latest by 17 April.

If you have any questions – or wish to add additional participants – simply email:

info@marlowtastes.menu

If you find that we are fully booked – or are not sure at this time – why not put your name on our Waiting List? Again email:
